New Partnership to Make Routsis Training the Exclusive Online Training Provider for PolymerOhio’s Manufacturing Portal

Technical Training for Injection Molders, Part & Mold Designers

PolymerOhio (Columbus, OH) announced that Routsis Training (Dracut, MA) has been named their exclusive training provider for injection molding-related courses through its Manufacturing and Polymer Portal. This decision was based on the extensive training materials that Routsis offers for injection molding (over 100 training courses), as well as part design and mold design. The Routsis Training platform is available online, anytime, on demand.

The training from Routsis Training benefits all manufacturing personnel, from operators to process technicians, and includes instruction using the industry's best practices with an emphasis on safety. The design-based training enables engineers to update their design practices for plastics parts, and to save time and money in mold procurement.

A free webinar to introduce the new affiliation and provide additional information is scheduled for January, 2014. Interested parties are urged to contact Richard Markham (details above) for information on how to participate.

Routsis Training, based in the Boston area, is a leading supplier of plastics processing training services, in both hands-on, and online formats, and supports its national and international training clients on an ongoing basis. In addition to injection molding, training is also provided for blow-molding and extrusion processes.

PolymerOhio Inc. is a polymer industry-specific Ohio Edison Technology Center, which is funded by company-funded projects, state and federal grants. The Manufacturing and Polymer Portal is a PolymerOhio initiative aimed at providing access to high- end digital tools at affordable pay-per-use prices. Other products available through the Portal include simulation software for injection molding, twin screw extrusion and extrusion die design as well as production scheduling and supply chain management.

i GET IT Adds Routsis Training to Online Engineering Knowledge Management Portfolio

i GET IT, the online self-paced training solution for engineers from Tata Technologies, announced the addition of a series of plastics training courses from Routsis Training, the premier training provider in the plastics industry, to its comprehensive online knowledge management portfolio.

“Offering these industry-leading training courses is part of the overall strategy of expanding the i GET IT library to address all of the engineer’s training needs.” said Dan Miles, Vice President iProducts. “Beyond training and skills enhancement, i GET IT offers engineering professionals a full portfolio of courses and engineering support to keep individuals and organizations continuously increasing their productivity.”

“Our courses on plastics processing, part design and tooling are an excellent tool for engineers using the i GET IT platform,” said Andy Routsis, President – Routsis Training. “As the premier training provider for the plastics industry, it makes sense to partner with the number one provider of online training for engineers and management. This partnership provides engineering professionals even more resources accessible anytime, anywhere.”

The use of plastics in manufacturing is increasingly important as product development demands across industry segments demand viable alternative materials that are durable and lightweight. In the automotive industry, earlier this year, the National Academies of Science’s National Research Council (NRC) released a report noting that lightweight plastics and plastics composites are essential to helping automotive OEMs meet stringent CAFE, standards of 54.5 mpg by 2025. Supporting that report, plastics industry representatives emphasized plastics and plastics composites, can significantly lessen the load on a vehicle’s engine, which increases mileage and reduces greenhouse gas emissions.

Overall, the plastics industry is the third-largest manufacturing segment in the U.S., growing at 2.3 percent per year since 1980, compared with 1.9 percent per year growth for manufacturing as a whole over that same period, according to SPI, the plastics industry trade organization.

i GET IT offers more than 100,000 engineering professionals in more than 60 countries a full portfolio of courses and engineering knowledge, online technical assistance and engineering information to support skills development and increase productivity. Routsis training is used in more than 3000 companies, including over 100 learning centers and educational institutions worldwide that use its interactive training programs as part of their standard curriculum. Routsis also is endorsed by the Society of Plastics Engineers.
